flowers have always spoken before i could. especially when my words would rest unspoken. today i picked one from our temporary neighbourhood walk path. i think she asked to come home with us. i build her a flower house of my dreams. ive been making little flower houses in our sacred home space. stitched from old sleeves. from hems that once moved through my days. from vintage cloth that already knows all about precious gardens and even preciouser time. i imagine their shape and then i cut with my beautiful scissors mum gifted me in kyoto last summer. and sew slowly with organic japanese cotton sashiko threads. and like magic beautifully old fabric becomes shelter. they are my flower houses. made from past lives. and our souk days. and the loveliest vintage kimono houses too. repurposed. softened. given another life to hold something living. so my harvested and gathered flowers can rest inside my own stories. inside textiles that have known earth and skin. air and sun. my todays flower sits gently. i think she recognises her place. maybe she knows she has come home too.

little flower houses made for moments that gather people. for tables set slowly. for hands reaching across linen and light. they sit quietly amongst conversation. i imagine them to become like that stillness when the music stops in musical chairs and everyone pauses mid-movement. beautiful in this imperfect stillness. holding their poetic place. holding something living while stories unfold around them. they are made for shadows too.. see.
they belong to shared meals. to long afternoons that turn into evening. to places where time isnt very important and we stay little longer than expected. each one shaped with this space in mind. for gatherings. for offerings. for artful moments that deserve something made with care.
